Amazon S3
Amazon S3, or any S3-compatible object store, can sit on either side of a sync: as a source Data Sync reads objects from a bucket, and as a sink it writes them to one.

Overview
One connector covers Amazon S3 and services that speak the S3 API, such as MinIO. For Amazon S3, leave the endpoint empty and set the region. For anything else, set the endpoint to the service's address.
Before you connect
- Create the bucket, in the region you want the data to live.
- Grant access to the identity Data Sync will use: read access to the bucket for a source, write access for a sink.
- Check the addressing style of an S3-compatible service. Many expect the bucket in the path rather than in the hostname; turn on Force path style for those.
Connection fields
Set once, on the connection, in step 2 of the add-a-connection wizard.
| Field | Default | Description | |
|---|---|---|---|
bucket | Required | — | The bucket to read from or write to. |
endpoint | Optional | Amazon S3 | The address of an S3-compatible service. Leave it empty for Amazon S3. |
region | Optional | us-east-1 | The bucket's region. |
force_path_style | Advanced | false | Address the bucket as endpoint/bucket rather than bucket.endpoint. Most S3-compatible services need this on. |
Credentials
Step 3 asks for an access key ID and secret access key. Store them as a Blunox-managed secret or as a reference to your own secret store; the connection keeps a reference, never the value. See Connections.
