Azure Blob Storage

Azure Blob Storage is a sink in Data Sync: changes from any source are written as blobs into a container in your storage account. There is no Azure Blob source.

Sink No stored secret

Overview

This connector holds no secret. It authenticates with the runner's own Azure identity, such as a managed identity or workload identity, so access is granted to that identity in Azure rather than through a key stored in Data Sync.

Before you connect

  1. Create the container Data Sync will write into.
  2. Give the runner an Azure identity. This means a runner that runs in Azure, typically a BYOC runner, with a managed identity or workload identity attached.
  3. Grant that identity write access to the container, for example the Storage Blob Data Contributor role scoped to it.

Connection fields

Set once, on the connection, in step 2 of the add-a-connection wizard.

FieldDefaultDescription
accountRequired—The storage account name.
containerRequired—The container blobs are written into.
prefixOptional—A path prefix inside the container, to keep Data Sync's output apart from anything else stored there.

Credentials

There is nothing to enter in step 3: the connector uses the runner's own identity.
